Bente Engelstoft is a director, comedian and 4-time Emmy Award winning writer and producer based in Los Angeles.
She began her career in comedy on the stages of The Second City and iO Chicago. Once in LA, Bente wrote and performed for the CBS Diversity Showcase in 2016 and 2017. She was a writer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show for 3 years and most recently was a staff writer on the Netflix Comedy Unstable.

Bente entered her director era in 2018 with Bill Posley’s The Day I Became Black (Best Solo Show and Top of the Fringe Nominee at the 2018 Hollywood Fringe Festival). Bill and Bente teamed up again in 2024 for The Day I Accidentally Went to War (Best of the Broadwater Winner HFF24 and Best Solo Show Performance Nominee HFF24). Most recently, she has had the pleasure of directing The Troll by Rochée Jeffrey and Do You Accept These Charges? by Laurie Magers. On the film side, Bente's short, Dinner Party Dictator, will be available next year.
Bente spends her free time teaching people how to pronounce her name. It’s like “Brenda” without the R.
